Forestry
The LSRCA has acquired in excess of 1,420 hectares (3,509 acres) of land. More than half of these lands are wetland areas that meet provincial objectives for environmental protection. The remaining acquisitions consist of floodplain lands, ecologically senstive areas and lands suitable for recreation. All of these lands are subsequently utilized in the LSCRA's land management program, where they assist the LSCRA and area municipalities in meeting parkland and open space objectives.
Reforestation and Treeplanting
Under the Landowner Environmental Assistance Program (LEAP), funding is offered to assist private landowners in completing environmental projects designed to improve local surface and ground water quality, reduce soil erosion, and enhance wildlife habitat.
