Reconnect with Nature at Our Second Annual Park Prescription Event
Join us for a one-day community event at Scanlon Creek Conservation Area, designed to inspire a deeper connection between nature, health, and well-being.
This family-friendly event invites participants of all ages to explore the beauty of Scanlon Creek while discovering the benefits of the Park Prescription program. Upon arrival, you’ll receive a passport and the chance to choose from a variety of activities tailored to your interests and abilities—whether it’s an energizing guided hike, a peaceful birdwatching session, or something in between.
Children can unleash their curiosity in the Discovery Play Garden, a space dedicated to nature-based play and learning.
Come for the fresh air — leave with a renewed sense of wellness.

Date: Saturday, September 20, 2025 (rain date Sunday, September 21)
Time: 10:00am – 2:00pm
Location: Scanlon Creek Conservation Area
Cost: Free
Ages: All ages welcome
Highlights:
- Hear from Dr. Jacob Zamora, local physician and endocrinologist, on the positive health impacts from spending time in nature
- Already a PaRx patient? Fill your prescription at our event!
- Get in your daily steps on a guided hike through Scanlon’s forests and meadows
- Tap into your creative side through nature art
- Use binoculars to see some of the amazing birds found at Scanlon Creek
- Watch the pages come alive as you enjoy a Story Walk while travelling down one of our beautiful trails.
Important Information:
- This event is free and open to all ages. Total number of participants is capped at 100, so register early!
- Registration opens Wednesday, August 20, 2025 at 9am
- Registration closes Thursday, September 18, 2025 at noon, or once maximum registrations received.
- This is an entirely outdoor event. Please dress appropriately for the weather.
- Guided hiking distance is approximately 1-2 km. Hikes are best suited to people in moderate physical condition. Re-useable water bottles and supportive footwear with rugged soles are strongly recommended.
- This program is open to children, youth, adults, and seniors of all ages.
