Our Education team is small but mighty!  We are a team​ of education experts working to support a more connected watershed community.​

Nicole Hamley

Nicole Hamley

​Manager of Education

Nicole is the Manager of Education at the Conservation Authority and loves helping people discover the wonders of nature. She has spent her career connecting people to their local watersheds through education program delivery and design, project management, stakeholder and community relationshi​​ps, and partnership development. While managing her team of expert educators is her primary job function by day, she enjoys spending time outside honing her naturalist skills and exploring the outdoors with her family. Nicole is an Ontario Certified Teacher with a BScH, Environmental Biology and is a graduate of the Ontario Master Naturalist Program.

Trevor Stanford

Trevor Stanford

Education Coordinator

When he’s not strumming his guitar, fishing the shores of Lake Simcoe and Georgian Bay, or paddling, Trevor is busy helping inspire and connect students with nature at the Scanlon Creek Nature Centre. With more than 11 years experience connecting people of all  ages to their local environment through outdoor education program design and delivery, community engagement programming and partnership development, Trevor is an expert at leading outdoor exploration. Trevor holds a BA in Environmental Studies, is fluent in French, and is a certified Forest School Practitioner.

Cassandra Connell

Cassandra Connell

Outdoor Educator

Cassandra knows that there’s nothing better than learning in a forest, park or meadow. She is passionate about connecting children with nature and works hard to achieve this goal by designing and delivering curriculum connected, hands-on, inquiry based, and experiential learning opportunities to students and community partners. As an Ontario Certified Teacher with an HBA, Geography, you’ll often find Cassandra having fun alongside her students, whether it be jumping in mud puddles, searching for salamanders, and even checking under logs to see what bugs can be found! Cassandra is our early learning expert and certified Forest School Practitioner.​

Katie Biddie

Katie Biddie

Outreach Educator

Katie is passionate about sustainability and is on a mission to bring solutions-focused climate change education to classrooms and communities across the Lake Simcoe watershed. She is an Ontario Certified Teacher, equipped with her B.ScH, B.Ed and MLCE (Master of Leadership and Community Engagement) degrees. Katie has a decade of experience connecting people of all ages to the environment through outdoor education, nature interpretation and community engagement programming. Outside of work, Katie enjoys spending her time cottaging with family and friends.

Logan Barnes

Outreach Educator

Logan is extremely enthusiastic about teaching in outdoor settings and loves to witness the wonder and curiosity that comes along with learning outside. As an Ontario Certified Teacher, Logan brings hands on outdoor experiences to students in their schoolyards and communities to help them recognize the importance of protecting the natural environment across our watershed. Logan loves to learn alongside her students, and always looks forward to seeing what they will discover in their learning! Outside of work, Logan loves to work in her garden and spend time with family and friends.

Stew MacPherson

Instructor

Having grown up camping with his family, Stew developed a passion for the outdoors at an early age, ultimately leading him to a career in Outdoor Education. As an Ontario Certified Teacher with a degree in Outdoor Recreation, Stew loves helping people develop  outdoor skills like fire making and shelter building. Specializing in leadership, Stew excels at bringing out the best in individuals and teams. When he’s not teaching, you’ll find Stew learning about animals, snowboarding with friends, and spending time with his dog, Gus.

Molina enjoys sparking curiosity in participants about the natural environment, a role that is deeply fulfilling given her own formative experiences in outdoor learning. One of the most rewarding aspects of her job is the continuous learning that comes from the endless questions she receives. Her love for nature, further fueled by her post-secondary studies, inspired her interest in stewardship and environmental education.  Molina brings diverse experience in urban agriculture, environmental education and sports instruction. In her free time, she enjoys reading, making music, camping, skateboarding, hiking, and spending time with loved ones.
