Taking Care of Trees

Have you ever thought about what life was like for a tree? We have!

In fact, we spend a lot of time thinking about the impact climate change has on them. This concern is the motivation behind a climate change study we’ve conducted on our forestry program.

The study’s main goals are to develop a revised list of tree and shrub species to plant that will be more resilient in this watershed, to incorporate those changes into our programming, and to transfer the knowledge we’ve gained to our partner municipalities, conservation authorities and environmental non governmental organizations within the Lake Simcoe watershed and beyond.

Did You Know?

The White Spruce, a familiar tree species currently found in abundance throughout our watershed, is predicted to be pushed out of this area by 2050, because of climate change.​
